Garage door openers don’t last forever, but how do you know when it’s time to replace yours?

Your garage door opener adds so much convenience to your life, but like any other moving part, it eventually needs to be replaced. There are so many reasons why you may need to replace your garage door opener, and in our last blog, our garage door installation experts in Windsor went over a couple of them. Here are a few more of the top reasons to replace your garage door opener:

#3. Your garage door opener is noisy.

Older garage door openers utilized components that were clunky and noisy, but if you’ve been living with the same opener for years, you probably don’t even notice the noise anymore! Take a moment to really listen to your garage door opener when you open and close it. If it sounds louder than it should, it’s time to replace it.

#4. Your garage door opener doesn’t have a backup battery.

There’s nothing more frustrating than having your vehicle stuck in your garage during power outages. Luckily, new garage door openers come equipped with backup batteries that allow you to open and close your garage door, even when the power goes out.

#5. You don’t have a keypad.

If you have an older garage door and you are trying to get into it without your remote, you may have to use a key in order to manually open your garage door. New models, however, come with keypads. If you need to let someone into your garage when you aren’t home or you need an easy way for your kids to get in without the remote, a keypad can certainly come in handy.
